The Politics of Ruination

With an administration pursuing policies that are ruinous to the country, one may be puzzled with the logic of it all. Thomas Sowell has unwound the politics of a government bent on punishing the energy and job creators that make the country go:
"...history shows that some of the most successful politicians have been people who ruined the local economy and chased job-creating businesses away. Mayor Coleman Young of Detroit in the 1970s and 1980s was not worried when affluent whites began moving out of the city in response to his policies, because they were people who were likely to vote against him if they stayed. Of course they took their taxes, their investment money and the jobs they created with them. But that was Detroit's problem, not Coleman Young's problem. Barack Obama may win re-election by turning the United States into Detroit writ large."
A voice crying in the wilderness? Perhaps so, but Dr. Sowell's on the money. Read the whole thing here.

  2. That guy Fowler makes sense, but will the French figure it out?

    Will we?

  3. The French choose suicide, how clever!
The problems are a failure of Capitalism?
Stop it! Stop it right now! I'm going to bust a gut laughing.

François Hollande is going to solve France's ills by introducing parity between men and women in his cabinet, creating a ministry of women's rights, promoting equal pay between the sexes, bringing under-represented minorities into government, and working to make the Republic more egalitarian? I thought concentrating on doing sh*t like that made them broke to begin with. Doesn't that mean pay raises when the system is broke? Tax the rich? Wow! That's an idea I never heard before! OK. That's will give you another month, but what will you do then? Wait for other people's money? Yeah. Maybe that world climate tax will finally be implemented, count on that. And be sure to spend it as fast as a drunken bum who finds a wallet on a dead man. That always worked in the past.

Those that don't remember the lessons of the future are doomed to repeat them. And so we shall. I just wish we had a record of the past that could guide us now. If only.

  4. Well, on the upside, we'll probably see a restoration of our space program. Once we've used up all the ill-gotten gain of the unentitled guilty rich, we're going to have some find some little green people to squeeze.

  5. And I bet their favorite sport is little green football. Which explains Charles Johnson, his blog, and his masterplan.
